제목: Heterojunction Photocatalysts: From Rational Design to Functional Applications

Heterojunction photocatalysts have been widely explored to address the fundamental limitations of conventional semiconductors, yet their practical performance remains constrained by inefficient charge separation and unstable interfacial structures. In this presentation, I will highlight our recent efforts toward the rational design of heterojunction photocatalysts, focusing on how interfacial engineering and dynamic structural evolution can be leveraged to achieve enhanced functionality. Our work has centered on four representative systems: vacancy-engineered Vo-ZnO/Cu, in situ reconstructed ZnS/Cu/ZnO, polymer-assisted PDA/ZnS, and plasmonic Au–ZnO heterostructures. Across these platforms, precise control over defect sites, interfacial bonding, and metal–semiconductor coupling enabled directional charge transfer and stabilized active sites under photocatalytic conditions. In particular, heterojunctions are described as adaptive systems that evolve during reaction, leading to improved catalytic performance. By integrating defect engineering, interfacial chemistry, and material hybridization strategies, this work presents a unified framework for designing next-generation heterojunction photocatalysts. These systems show strong potential for solar energy conversion and environmental applications, offering new insights into the transition from fundamental materials design to practical functionality.
