5) 제목 : Development and Application of Antibodies and Antibody Derivatives
6) 초록: Antibodies play a pivotal role as essential proteins responsible for our body’s immune functions. Research on antibodies for clinical applications commenced in the 1970s, and the emergence of blockbuster antibody therapeutics such as Trastuzumab (Herceptin, anti-Her2 antibody) and Adalimumab (Humira, anti-TNFα) in the early 2000s significantly heightened human interest in potential antibody development research. Consequently, the demand for therapeutic antibodies and their market value has grown exponentially. In this seminar, I aim to introduce two specific research cases detailing the development of novel antibodies or antibody derivatives on a laboratory scale. Firstly, I will describe a case involving the discovery of antibodies specific to glycans using yeast surface display technology, one of the conventional methods. Secondly, I will elucidate the construction of a new high-throughput antibody screening system in E. coli and discuss the results of utilizing the screening system for antibody maturation and novel antibody discovery. Finally, I will provide a concise overview of the utilization of these discovered antibodies or antibody derivatives in both research and industry fields.
